Jeanne Held-Warmkessel, MSN, RN, APRN, BC, AOCN^®
A recognized resource on the nursing care of patients receiving chemotherapy, Jeanne Held-Warmkessel is an advanced-practice, clinical nurse specialist in oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Held-Warmkessel has authored numerous articles or book chapters on the nursing care of patients with solid tumors, and she is also the author of the Pocket Guide to Prostate Cancer and editor of Contemporary Issues in Prostate Cancer: A Nursing Perspective. From 1999 to 2002, she was associate editor for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, and in 2003 she was appointed to review continuing education unit (CEU) programs for the same journal. Ms. Held-Warmkessel has been a frequent speaker on the subjects of prostate cancer, chemotherapy, and other cancer-related issues at annual meetings of the Oncology Nursing Society and at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. She is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society and has served on associated committees and panels and has led various team projects. She is also a member of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and served on the editorial advisory board for the journal Nursing 2005.

Ms. Held-Warmkessel attended the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. She then received a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Ms. Held-Warmkessel holds certifications as a clinical specialist in medical-surgical nursing from the American Nurses' Association and in advanced-practice oncology from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.

Brahm H. Segal, MD
Brahm H. Segal, MD, is Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, New York. He completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. At the NIH, Dr. Segal had the privilege of working under the mentorship of Dr. Steve Holland, whose research focused on chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) and the role of the NADPH oxidase in host defenses and inflammation. After joining the faculty at Roswell Park, Dr. Segal continued his research in CGD and established a collaborative research group with the goal of developing novel therapies for invasive Aspergillus infection. This collaborative research involves the modeling of combination antifungal agents and the characterization of Aspergillus gene profiles by using microarray analysis in response to single and combination antifungal agents. Dr. Segal and his colleagues are also evaluating vaccine-based strategies against Aspergillus infections in mouse models.

Dr. Segal has authored or coauthored more than 50 manuscripts, abstracts, or book chapters and has lectured at several international conferences, including the annual meetings of the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He is a writing member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), which drafts guidelines for the management of neutropenic fever, and serves on the IDSA committee to establish management guidelines for invasive aspergillosis.
