Herbariums and Collections

Botanische Staatssammlung München

This site presents the Botanische Staatssammlung München herbarium, which comprises about 2.5 million dried specimens of plants and fungi. More than 15,000 specimens are sent on loan worldwide each year. This public center also offers identification services for special groups of plants and fungi. Access the DALI database and the LIAS Information System. Or search through 35,000 titles in the associated library online.

International Culture Collection of Arbuscular & Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi

Since moving to West Virginia University in 1990, INVAM's living culture collection, intended to preserve valuable germ plasm of AM fungi, has had over 1300 accessions. Almost 1100 of those have maintained viability through successful culturing. This site provides all information concerning this collection.

This collection houses 280,000 collections of fungi including 6,482 type collections. Find fun fungi facts, search the specimen database for retrieval from 38,000 specimens, or use the geographic information system to locate various specimens. You'll find the loan policy for specimens, information on research and an extensive list of related sites.

University of Florida Herbarium (FLAS)

The herbarium and the associated paleobotanical collection have combined holdings of approximately 1/2 million specimens. Among the collections is Florida fungi, especially agarics and polypores. Search the herbarium library or the literature list, or download Plabel for generating herbarium labels. Contains a fairly extensive list of botanical sites.
